Instructors
Sierra Tango Aviation owner and chief instructor, Shannon Coleman has a long aviation background. He grew up in Kentucky with a runway in the back yard and three planes in the hangar. His father flew a Commanche 180 and a Sorrell Hiperbipe and his mother flew a Cessna 140. His first time at the flight controls was at age two in an Ercoupe. He received his private pilot certificate in December of 1999. He earned his commercial, multi-engine and instrument ratings at Flight Safety Academy, in Vero Beach, FL shortly afterward. Shannon gained most of his taildragger experience towing banners in New Jersey.
Shannon’s instructing credentials include over 2500 hours of total time and over 1000 hours of instruction given. He has over 1500 hours in taildraggers, including L-3s, J-3s, Citabrias, PA-18s, and even an SNJ-5.
