Are you looking to do some fun flying while in the area?  Here are a few ideas.

Topsail Island - Topsail is just a short hop east from Wallace. I prefer to land at Holly Ridge/Topsail Island Airport (N21). There is no FBO or courtsey car, but you should be able to call a taxi. The turf runway is plenty long for most small aircraft; however, be cautious approaching from the west due to the restricted airspace west of Hwy 17 and the power lines at the end of the runway.

Wilmington - Head south out of Wallace, contact Wilmington Approach and see if you can fly down the Cape Fear River and over the USS North Carolina Battleship. Circle around Kure Beach and Carolina Beach then head up to Wrightsville Beach before heading back to Wallace.

Oak Island - Brunswick County Airport (SUT) has a wonderful airport staff and courtesy cars for your use. Fly around North Carolina's oldest lighthouse, the Bald Head Island Lighthouse or if you have time, take the ferry over for a visit and rent a golf cart to tour Bald Head Island (be prepared, there is a fee for the ferry and the cart rental).

Ocracoke Island - You can only get to Ocracoke Island by ferry or aircraft and we all know which way is the most fun. Fly into Ocracoke Island Airport (W95) and contact Howard's Pub on the CTAF frequency once you're in the pattern for a lift to the restaurant. If you prefer to walk, its about a mile.

Kitty Hawk - Its a little further up the coast, but every pilot should make the pilgrimage to the Wright Brothers Monument at First Flight Airport (FFA). Combine this trip with lunch at Ocracoke for a wonderful day.

Myrtle Beach, SC - Grand Strand Aiport (CRE) is only 65 nm southwest of Wallace.

Stanton's BBQ - Stanton's is one of the few places you can fly-in and just walk across the road for lunch. The BBQ is excellent and the restaurant has a Pilot's Room with memorabillia from the proprietor's flying days. Their turf runway is not on any sectional, but you can find it at N34-43-9 and W79-40-0. Runway 12 - 30 is 2300' long and multicom is 122.9.
